Slake Durability Apparatus

This apparatus is engineered to evaluate rock resistance against degradation and breakdown under simulated climatic slaking conditions. The slake durability test serves as an accelerated weathering method, which measures the abrasion resistance of shale and comparable soft rock materials used in embankments and other construction projects during repeated wetting and drying cycles. Specimens undergo two rounds of testing: rotating inside mesh drums submerged in water, followed by oven drying. The mass loss percentage calculated after the test is defined as the slake durability index.
