Description of Product
This digital four-probe array meter supports assessment of the possible corrosion rate in reinforcing bars. Corrosion initiation and progression depend on the properties of the cement paste and the permeability of the concrete. Because electrical conductivity in concrete is an electrolytic process driven by ionic movement in the aqueous pore solution of the cement matrix, a highly permeable concrete will show high conductivity and low electrical resistance. Knowledge of a concrete's electrical resistance therefore provides a measure of the possible corrosion rate of steel embedded within it.
